Re: Altec 210 Split
Thanks for the kind words -
I tried to post but I can't see the message.
Some images of the project are up on my website at Split Altec 210 Cabinetr
I ended up with a single A210 cabinet that was badly de-laminating at the base and top. I ultimately reused the horn and some internal braces - the remainder is cabinet grade birch plywood.
It's currently housing a 416 (well actually a 420A reconed by GPA as a 416). Base is tight and deep - some resonances above 100hz that may require more crossbracing.

Re: Altec 210 Split
Gary is a great guy. I bought some circuit boards from him a while back to build a nixie tube clock. What a great job he did with those cabinets.
Michael Frye's article in Sound Practices about the 210 split states that they have a free air cutoff frequency is 70Hz (compared to 180Hz for the A5). However, coupling the enclosure with the floor within a room may take it down another octave, 35Hz.
I sure would like to hear them.

Great cabs Gary. I really enjoyed the Dynaco pdf's you have on your home page as well. I owned a PAS-3X for years but since I bought it used, this is the first time I've ever seen the manual for it--very nice!

Hmmm.... Why is it that Altec-heads and nixie tube clocks seem to go together? I love those things! Have even owned a few nixie calculators.
Great work on the cabinets, Gary!
